Random
I arrived at the house and we must have had some sort of weird wind storm. A small branch from the tree above the hot tub must have come straight down and lodged itself in the hot tub cover! It was easily patched with some silicone and a vinyl patch kit. Lucky it wasn't the whole tree!

Backhoes are Back!
But only temporarily. Got some crushed stone put around the house and the driveway redone to hopefully divert the water to where we want it to go.

Summer
My sister Nancy says she's getting tired of seeing the deck furniture post at the top of my blog. Since I'm still waiting for my new siding to be put on (since April...) there's not much construction activity at the house. I'm actually getting to enjoy lots of time on the deck with friends and explore the upper Delaware River Valley. I hired someone to deal with the lawn, since I don't want to meet my death on the riding mower on the steep slope, and weed whacking is just NO FUN. Here are some pics of the herbs I'm growing (basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, sage.) The one with the white edges is pineapple sage, and I just bought it because it was pretty. The plants LOVE the deck and grew like crazy after I planted them. I'm also trying to get the morning glories to climb the railings - we'll see how that goes - they really have a mind of their own!

Guestbook
I guess I should start a guestbook on this site, since I've trailed off on the renovation pictures. This weekend I had my friend Justin, his brother Barrett and friend Jeff up for a "boys ski weekend." Here's Barrett's thank you note and a couple of pics of the "fab four":
Patti, Jeffy, J.,
That was supa-fun.
Thanks for hosting and for driving and sharing and skiing and snowboarding and drinking and hot tubbing and eating 5 desserts and eating cheese and putting up with my music and playing Muppet Uno and drinking... and drinking and having times together.Thank you,--Barrett

Pellet Stove
Since the house has electric heat, I was advised to get a pellet stove. You fill the hopper with little pellets that look like rabbit food (but are actually made out of wood shavings) and the pellets come down a chute and burn. I got the stove used and a ton of pellets (they come in 40lb bags and live in my shed) for a really good price. I never thought you could love a pellet stove.
