Under Construction

I'm staying away from the house while the roof is re-done, the windows on the front and back of the house are replaced, the old deck is ripped off, and the former front closet is turned into my laundry center. (Laundry! In the house! I haven't had that since 1998... I can't wait.) Stay tuned for pics after I'm there on the 8th.

Closing Party

I finally closed on the house! I invited a few of my new friends from the area over for champagne and hors d'oeuvres. I had to seriously improvise on the deck furniture. It didn't matter, we still managed to have lots of fun!

Where's the House?

It's in Callicoon, NY. Find it here on Google maps. It's technically in the Catskills but they like to call it the Upper Delaware River Valley. The town and river are just down the hill from the house. Callicoon has great web site. Check it out.

Progress

This weekend contractor Ed hung the birdhouse and sold me his mower. He also took some time out to demonstrate his high school quarterbacking skills. Time Warner cable laid the cable that will eventually bring me TV and Internet even though the home office hasn't gotten word yet. Friday morning I awoke to the joyous sounds of a bulldozer creating an access road so that the construction can truly begin! The lawn is mowed and the birds will have a place to live once they get kicked out of my roof.

Overgrown

While the house was waiting for me to come to save it, it got quite overgrown...

Before!

Here are some pics of the country house before I got my hands on it! Deer and clutter are now gone. Furniture stays. $1,000 spent at Target and Lowes so far and counting...
